Supreme Court Rules that Warrants Needed for GPS Tracking (Scalia writes 4th amendment ruling!)
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationIn a case that stemmed from an investigation by D.C. police and the FBI of a local drug dealer, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously today that police across the country need a warrant if they want to track suspects using GPS monitors. In the ruling, which was written by Justice Antonin Scalia, the court found that even though the case involved a GPS unit that was attached to a car that was out in the open, it still constituted a "search" under the language of the Fourth Amendment: It is important to be clear about what occurred in this...
Vanity - Reluctant to "Search"?
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationJust wondering, but are most people reluctant to type a title or keyword in Search before posting a topic? Oh, I try my best to see if a topic has been started before I post something. But multiple posting of a breaking news story? Nothing is so urgent that it needs to be posted so quickly. Sometimes scrolling down the first or next page will show a story has already been posted.
Help in finding an old friend
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationWould need some help in finding a friend of my dad that he would like to re-unite with. He hasn't seen this buddy in over 40 years. All we know is that he was in the navy and is old enough to receive social security. Can't find him in Facebook. Would Social Security admin assist in finding someone? Would Veterans Affairs? If they could help what offices should be contacted? Any help from anyone who has ever tried to find someone they want to re-connect with would be really appreciated. Many thanks.
FBI Joins Search for Missing 2-Year-old Washington Boy
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationThe FBI has joined the search for a 2-year-old Washington state boy who was last seen by his mother inside a parked car. Sky Metalwala was reported missing Sunday morning after his mother discovered him missing from her car in Bellevue, Wash. The child's mother told police that she had run out of gas and left the boy buckled into his car seat while she and her 4-year-old daughter walked to a Chevron gas station, about a mile away. When the pair returned to the silver Acura approximately an hour later, the 2-year-old boy was gone, Fox affiliate KCPQ-TV reports....

The 'impossible' search is on for Apollo 10's 'Snoopy'
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationIt's not often I read about a new project that leaves me undecided whether it's totally crazy or a stroke of genius. I was recently sent a news release of such a project and, having read it over a few times, I think I'm leaning toward the latter. The idea is the brain child of British amateur astronomer Nick Howes who not only has a passion for hunting for asteroids, but also for the Space Race in particular, the Apollo era.
Google, Yahoo search engine invasive liberal censorship
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationFreepers, Google and other search engines are now filtering your search results based on your browsing habits, your computer, your location, any data they can mine from your online activity. Presumably this is done for marketing purposes, but the really ugly aspect, especially for conservatives is that they can filter for political affiliation, which means that if Joe Average searches on Sarah Palin, he may end up with only results that are critical of Sarah. Same for any other candidate. This is FASCISM and we need to blow this issue to the moon. Get on it people, raise some Hell....

Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationCLARKSVILLE, Ind. -- An all-out search is under way for a man accused of trying to kidnap a girl. The incident happened in a quiet neighborhood in Clarksville on Saturday. According to police, a man in his mid- to late-30s grabbed a 10-year-old girl who was riding her bike and tried to abduct her. This has been considered a very disturbing case, and it's shaken up a lot of parents in Clarksville because it is the type of case parents fear the most. Now, the search is on to catch that man before he has a chance to strike again....
The 6-Year Search for a Family Doctor in Canada
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationFrom the article "The Soul-Destroying Search for a Family Doctor," about a woman's six-year search to find a family doctor in Canada, where the single-payer system is frequently plagued with shortages for primary care physicians. Although once you manage to find one, you are entitled to receive their medical services for "free" (and there might be some long waiting times): "When the man took my registration papers and said congratulations, you have a family doctor, I confess I had to hold back a few tears. I had just spent three hours of my Saturday standing in line (pictured above) with...
Federal jury hears illegal search' case(GA)
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationA federal jury will soon decide if an alleged warrant-less search by the Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office will cost the county money. On Monday, former sheriff Mark McClure sat on one side of Judge William C. O'Kelley's courtroom in Gainesville while the plaintiff Geoffrey Asher sat on the other. McClure and several of his officers searched Asher's Emory Stephens Road property in April 2006 without a judge-ordered warrant in hand. Deputy Eddie Cole initially pulled onto Asher's property that day, after the defendant reportedly sped by him at over 20 miles per hour over the speed limit. * Asher initially...
DC Circuit Holds that New Airport Screening Security Measures Comply With the Fourth Amendment
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationThe new airport screening measures involving millimeter wave technology and backscatter technology together with the opt-out of a pat-down have received a great deal of public attention. Back when the new measures were first widely introduced, I blogged about why a Fourth Amendment challenge to the new practices was an uphill battle. Today, the DC Circuit handed down an opinion in EPIC v. Department of Homeland Security holding that the new practices comply with the Fourth Amendment. I believe this is the first clear court ruling on the question, and its certainly the first from a federal court...

TSA Is Threatened By Me
Posted by admin / Under Search Engine OptimizationI've had my encounters with the TSA on a number of occasions. I would be considered a TSA Troll if such a definition existed. I follow their Twitter and have had some back and forth constitutional arguments with them about their ignorance, stupidity, and illegal actions. I'm convinced that since I use my real name and practically DARE them to discriminate against me for my outspokenness that I'm on their pat-down list. Not long ago, the TSA rightfully recognized that their willful disregard for American civil liberties has given them a black eye that probably won't go away any time...
